Souper Jenny Turns 10 By Lila Campbell

Souper Jenny, the popular cafe in the Andrews Square Shopping Center in Buckhead, is celebrating 10 years of success this month with a milestone anniversary celebration open to the public.
In 1998, Jenny Levison combined her passions of travel and cooking to fill a void in Atlanta’s dining scene. "The soup craze was happening, and I didn’t think we had a good soup spot in Atlanta," she recalled. From this insight, Souper Jenny was born. From humble beginnings as a six-seat cafe to today’s space with communal tables, a garden patio and a children’s room, it’s clear her vision was on target.
Family photos line the walls of the eatery, and servers – all working actors like Levison – break into song at any given moment. Customers stand in line and chat while choosing a menu mainstay like "My Dad’s Turkey Chili" or "Absolutely Everything Veggie" or a new creation among the six daily soups offered, in addition to a variety of sandwiches, salads, baked goods and bread.
The restaurant serves lunch seven days a week, has a Grilled Cheese Night on Thursdays and brunch on Sundays. A cookbook, Souper Jenny Cooks, will be available soon, as well as the launch of a catering service, Mobile Souper Jenny. An anniversary celebration will be held Oct. 6-10, which will include guest chefs, activities, live music, giveaways and a final night cocktail party.
In regards to her decade-long success, Levison said: "I had no idea I’d be here 10 years later. I still can’t believe I’m open! I have a great staff, and I try to treat everyone like they are a guest in my house."
