Poetry Atlanta will present the fifth annual Voices Carry: An Evening of Poetry & Spoken Word on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. at Wordsmiths Books, 545 N. McDonough St. in Decatur. The Literary Center at the Margaret Mitchell House has a number of big events coming this month, including a rare appearance by poet Sharon Olds on Nov. 18, reading from her new collection, One Secret Thing. The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and a reading at 7 p.m. Roy Blount Jr. offers an entertaining investigation of the English language and celebrates the sonic and kinetic energies of words with Alphabet Juice on Friday, Nov. 21 A reception begins at 6 p.m. followed by Blount’s 7 p.m. presentation.
