This just in: MidCity Cusine in Midtown has closed citing parking issues at the Peachtree Pointe building and competition from other restaurants in the area. The eatery had struggled since founding chef Shaun Doty departed and embarassing press after inserting the new chef's name into previously published reviews of Doty's cooking.

Los Angeles-based Dolce Group (which includes partners Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and other celebs) has opened the first of three upscale eateries in Midtown’s Atlantic Station. Dolce opened last month, serving Italian food in a luxury atmosphere. Ten Pin Alley (a combination bar, lounge and bowling alley) and Geisha House (upscale Asian cuisine) are slated to open in the coming weeks. www.dolcegroup.com.

Babette’s Cafe owner Marla Adams has created The Pantry at Babette’s, an in-house shop featuring the Poncey-Highland restaurant’s signature soups, desserts, sauces, stock, vegetables and side dishes. Offerings at The Pantry will change frequently, depending on the availability of seasonal ingredients. Selections will be posted daily at www.thepantry@babettescafe.com, where you can also place orders for pick-up Tuesdays through Sunday.

The Standard is now open at 327 Memorial Dr. in Grant Park. The menu features casual fare such as spicy shrimp, marinated steak sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches and a full bar with 12 beers on tap. The new eatery also has a Wi-Fi coffeehouse-style lounge, flat screen televisions and patio. The Standard is open seven days a week, with lunch available Friday through Sunday (Weekday lunches are coming soon). The bar is open late. Sidebar is now open in Peachtree Battle Shopping Center in Buckhead featuring tapas, martinis and a DJ spinning disco tunes on a big dance floor. Regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. DJ Crocker plays music from the ’70s and ’80s and early ’90s on Retro Tuesdays, contemporary jazz on Wednesdays, disco on Thursdays and pop rock on Fridays and Saturdays. Local live entertainment is featured on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with national acts such as Anita Ward and Evelyn Champagne King, appearing monthly. www.sidebarbuckhead.com.

After water damage from a leaky pipe, Bob Amick and Todd Rushing’s latest hip restaurant, Trois, is already packing in the foodies at the 1180 Peachtree building. With a menu of French-inspired cuisine designed by Executive Chef Jeremy Leib, the three-level space features Bar at Trois, offering casual lunches, small dinners and fully stocked bar. The main Trois dining room seats 170, while Above Trois is a space for parties and events. www.trois3.com.  

Seasons 52 Fresh Grill has opened its second location in the metro area at Two Buckhead Plaza, 3050 Peachtree Rd., in the heart of Buckhead Village (West Paces and Peachtree roads). The Florida-based restaurant pairs seasonally inspired meals (including seafood, quail and filet mignon) with selected wines. The hook: Every dish on the menu is 475 calories or less. In the "Make Up Your Mind Already" department comes the second closure of Seeger’s in Buckhead. Foodies from around the country were already in mourning when owner/chef Guenter Seeger announced last summer he would close the award-winning restaurant because of financial difficulties. Just before Christmas, he closed it again…this time for good. Here To Serve Restaurant Group (which operates Prime and Twist among others) will open a new eatery, Posh, early this year. Here To Serve’s founder, Chef Tom Catherall, announced he will be top torque at Posh. www.heretoserverestaurants.com.

QUICK BITES: After more than three decades in business, Silver Grill on Monroe Drive in Midtown closed its doors last month, citing the property owner’s plan for redeveloping the site and the public’s move away from the meat-and-three diner menu…. Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on East Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead has decamped to the Embassy Suites on Peachtree Road…. Nick Leaky has replaced Michael De Marco has top chef at Pacific Kitchen in Inman Park…. ENO has a new head chef, Jor Rego, formerly of Sotto Sotto…. The former home of Sampan (and before that Commune) on Howell Mill Road on the West Side will reopen in the spring as JCT Kitchen and Bar…. Metro CafÈ Diner has replaced the closed Mick’s at Peachtree Center in Downtown…. The old Decatur train depot on Trinity Avenue will become a restaurant next year operated by Decatur residents Bill and Peggy SharkeyTrader Joe’s on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs is finally selling "Two Buck Chuck," its trademark private label wine that costs $2 on the West Coast, but is closer to $3 here. Trader Joe’s will open in Midtown Promenade on Monroe Drive later this year…. Lance Gummere is the new chef de cuisine at Shaun’s, which was opened in late November in Inman Park by its namesake, Shaun Doty…. Wahoo Grill on West College Avenue in Decatur, now has live jazz on its heated patio during Sunday brunch and every Thursday night…. Sabroso on Moreland Avenue has created "Happy Hour for the Whole Family" Monday through Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m., featuring grown-up drinks for the parents and ice cream for the kids…. Catering 101 has opened a new events facility – the antebellum-styled mansion called Belle Manor – at 5229 Roswell Rd. in Sandy Springs. The 5,000-square-foot facility can hold up to 100 guests with food provided by Catering 101. www.101concepts.com …. Souper Jenny in Buckhead – famed for its long lines at lunch – is now opening on Fridays and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to midnight offering desserts, coffee and wine.
