Compiled by Collin Kelley, Managing Editor

The Desense of Nonfense: Poems by Megan Volpert ($16, BlazeVOX Books) Volpert’s second collection plays with linguistics, pop references and abstraction. She’ll be signing and reading from the collection on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m. at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur. www.wordsmithsbooks.com.

Atlanta Classic Desserts by Krista Reece ($15.95, Pelican Publishing) This colorful cookbook features favorite recipes from Atlanta restaurants including Shaun’s, Rathbun’s, Babette’s Café, Mary Mac’s Tearoom, The Colonnade, Bluepointe and many more.

NFT: Not For Tourists Guide to Atlanta 2009 ($19.95, NFT Inc.) This little black book has become a must-read every year as it updates everything from where to get your car washed and clothes pressed to where to dine out and party. As the title suggests, this is more in an insiders guide with lots of tips, phone numbers and websites.

The House on Tradd Street by Karen White ($14, New American Library) Atlanta-based White’s first novel in a new series that follows a Charleston real estate agent who has a feeling for more than the best home deals – she can also see ghosts. When a client leaves her an elegant mansion, a whole family of ghosts seeks her counsel, while a writer woos her while looking for hidden Confederate diamonds.
