Home Improvement: Before & After

Thinking of upgrading or totally remodeling a room in your house? Is the bathroom stuck in the 1960s with baby blue and pink tiles? Are the 1970s kitchen cabinets dark and oppressive? And just where does one begin when setting out to renovate part of their home? Atlanta INtown hopes to help answer some of those questions with our new Home Improvement pages. Here you’ll see before and after photos of Intown projects completed by local builders and designers, as well as tips and information on starting your renovation. In April, we’ll introduce you to Jesse Morado, aka Renovation Coach, who will be writing for us each month on topics like financing your renovation, planning, bid reviews, quality control and much more.

BEFORE & AFTER
Atlanta’s Home ReBuilders were contracted by Chris and Courtney Tilley for an attic conversion at their Morningside bungalow. With an in-home office and a second child on the way, their two bedroom/one bath home was bursting at the seams. The conversion added a new second floor that allowed for a much-desired “rocking chair” front porch.

Harvey Ward, owner of Ward Construction Co., and his wife Shelly decided it was time to update their Decatur home with a new kitchen, bathroom and basement. The kitchen, complete with wood-grain paneling and decades-old cabinetry, is hardly recognizable after the remodeling. The large granite-topped island is a perfect place for preparing meals, having breakfast or entertaining friends.
