Continuing Care Retirement Communities such as Canterbury Court, Lenbrook and the under-construction Peachtree Hills Place allow "aging in place," starting with independent living and then moving on to assisted living before the final stage of skilled nursing units..

Assisted living care helps residents with such daily tasks as dressing, bathing and shaving or taking medication. In CCRCs, there’s an additional level of medical services.

For those over 62 seeking an independent lifestyle for a monthly rent, there’s St. Anne’s Terrace, run by St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. The community at 3100 Northside Parkway N.W. has one and two-bedroom apartments. For one bedrooms, the monthly rent runs from $2,026 to $2,865, and for two bedrooms, it’s $2,995 to $3,638.
