CARma stands for Commuter Awareness & Responsibility in Metro Areas.

CARma's mission is to help unlock gridlock and reduce the toxic emissions that are poisoning our future. The 3Cs:

• Commuter education

• Corporate participation

• Community enforcement

Through small changes in driving habits will immediately help synchronize traffic flow: saving lives & reducing fuel consumption, carbon emissions and commute time.

According to CARma’s Web site, 55 percent of Atlanta's gridlock is a result of minor unnecessary accidents - which the majority are caused by one or a combination of the three-ills: illegal speed, illegal tailgating or ill-will.

Here are three things CARma advocates to practice on daily commutes:

• Ease the pace: you'll arrive faster by slowing down and keeping a steady pace

• Leave some space: you'll have less stop-n-go and a smoother commute by not tailgating’

• Encourage the merge: you'll keep traffic moving by slowing down and letting your neighbor merge.
