A few weeks back, I had a lunch meeting at BED Downtown. Located inside the chic Glenn Hotel, BED is a new hotspot, and the waitress recommended the burger on their lunch menu, created by celebrated chef Nico Romo. Sorry, Nico, these burgers need a little work.
The burger is big and juicy, but the patties are made with onions cooked inside. There were some other spices at work, too, that killed the joy of the beef.
The bun was rather thin and nondescript, so you definitely got more burger than bun. The spicy mayo/salsa condiment that came, luckily, on the side was overpowering. On the other hand, the French fries were some of the best I’d tasted. My tablemates were stealing them off my plate.
If you go to BED, get the thin crust pizza instead. Now that is some good eating.
I know the BurgerFolks don’t agree with me on this, but my favorite burger is still at George’s in Va-Hi. I’m craving one right now.
