Meet the Atlanta Chamber Players

 THE PLAYERS’ PLAYERS

Paula Peace. Pianist, founder, artistic director. Has produced concerts and performed in more than 200 cities in 18 states, France, Italy and Switzerland for ACP. Has produced, edited and performed on six ACP recordings; produced and performed in more than 50 regional and world premieres in Atlanta; and designed and performed hundreds of concert programs, educational lectures and master classes throughout the South. Did her undergraduate work at Florida State University and got her master’s from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Laura Ardan. Clarinet. With group since 1987. Principal clarinetist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 1982. Attended the Juilliard School, performed and taught at the Lincoln Center Institute in New York, and has been a featured performer at the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival in North Carolina.

Justin Bruns. Violin. Makes his Atlanta Chamber Players’ debut with "Voice of the Whale" on Feb. 16. Joined the ASO as assistant concertmaster last fall. Has a master’s degree from Rice University and has been assistant concertmaster or concertmaster of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Boulder (Colo.) Bach Festival and the Cabrillo Contemporary Music Festival in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Catherine Lynn. Viola. In her fifth season with the Players and the ASO. Joined the faculty of Kennesaw State University in 2004, did her undergraduate work at the University of Alabama and received her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Michigan. Was a finalist for the William Primrose International Viola Competition in 1999.

Christopher Pulgram. Violin. With group since 1991. In his 15th season with ASO. Graduated from the University of Michigan, has won the Atlanta Pro-Mozart Society Competition and studied or played in Austria, Switzerland, Canada and the Far East. Has performed as a soloist with orchestras in the United States, Switzerland and Italy and has recorded with Usher, Collective Soul and Yehudi Menuhin.

Brad Ritchie. Cello. Ten seasons with the Players and the ASO. Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University; graduate degree from the Hockschule for Musik in Freiburg, Germany. Has played in Japan, France and Germany. Before coming to Atlanta, he was part of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Fla.

Christina Smith. Flute. Joined the ASO in 1991 at age 20. Graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy with the Young Artist Medal in 1989 and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music. Has taught at New York University, the University of Iowa, Indiana University and the Portland Flute Society. On the faculty of Kennesaw State and Emory universities.
