The Atlanta Police Department and Crime Stoppers Atlanta held a news conference this afternoon to seek the public’s help in finding a fraud suspect.

According to the APD,  Tanya Monique Peel opened a business account at a JP Morgan Chase Bank in Atlanta last December. The business did not really exist and the account was created to facilitate the theft of $123,000, which was stolen from an investment account with Charles Schwab.

On Dec. 19, 2013 a Charles Schwab account holder’s identity was stolen and the perpetrator was able to use that to steal $123,000 from the account and move the money to the account set up at JP Morgan Chase by Tanya Peel. She immediately withdrew the funds from the Chase account and disappeared.

Peel was last known to live in Raleigh, NC.

Anyone with information about Peel or this case can anonymously call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477), visit crimestoppersatlanta.org or text CSA and their tip to CRIMES (274637). There is a reward of up to $2,000 for information in the case.
