Fall Fun: Busy weekend of events ahead

Out on Film
Out On Film, Atlanta’s LGBT film festival, is happening Oct. 3-10 at Landmark Midtown Cinema. The eight-day festival will feature approximately 75 feature films, documentaries, short films and premieres from all over the world. See the complete list of movies at outonfilm.org.

The Making of Modern Atlanta: John Portman, Architect
Docomomo US, Georgia Chapter will host its seventh annual Docomomo Tour Day on Oct. 5 with a special focus on architect John Portman, the designer of Peachtree Center, Hyatt Regency and Peachtree Plaza among others. There will be tours of the buildings, talks by Portman associates and lunch at the Sun Dial restaurant. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. at Peachtree Center. Tickets are $5 for Docomomo members, $10 for the public. More details at docomomoga.org. Space is limited.

E. Rivers Elementary School Fall Festival
The 2nd annual festival will be held Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4360 Powers Ferry Road. There will be rides, games, rock wall, bungee trampoline, skee ball, photo booth, obstacle course, trackless train, bounce houses and more. For more information and to buy ride tickets, visit eriverselementary.com.

AutumnFest Arts & Music Festival
The Avondale Arts Alliance will host the 11th annual event Oct. 5-6 at the historic Tudor Village. There will be an artist market, live music and entertainment, food and beverage vendors and a Kids Zone. Visit avondalearts.org for more details.

Pine Lake’s LakeFest 
Pine Lake, located between Decatur and Stone Mountain, will hold its annual LakeFest on Oct. 5-6. Now in its 14th year, the festival will feature arts and crafts, music, health and wellness vendor row, sand sculpture contest, chalk art contest, pet show, and FLOATZILLA – a floating parade of wildly decorated watercraft. The campus museum has a number of fantastic exhibitions on show, including Victor Hugo: Selections from the Schlossberg Collection featuring drawings, prints and sculpture by a number of artists celebrating the life and work of literary and political figure Victor Hugo. There’s also Picasso, Braque & Léger: 20th Century Modern Masters is on view in The Shelley and Donald Rubin Gallery. This exhibition of more than 80 works introduces viewers to lithographs, etchings and aquatints by three of the 20th century’s modernist leaders. For more information, visit museum.oglethorpe.edu.
