The Varsity  is planning a celebration in honor of the 80th anniversary of its legendary Varsity Orange drink. The Varsity will be giving away free Varsity Orange drinks all day long on Tuesday, July 24, at all 7 of their locations.

Eighty years ago back in 1932, Frank Gordy, The Varsity’s founder developed this unique drink after a trip to New York where he saw orange drinks being sold on the street corners. Upon his return to Atlanta, he began testing several orange drink recipes until he hit upon perfection.

When you think of an original Atlanta soft drink that has not changed in more than 80 years, you might think of Coca-Cola, but The Varsity Orange is in that prestigious category, too. The non-carbonated “VO,” along with its creamy cousin the Frosted Orange, is still sold to this day.
