Grant Park school gets $15k playground grant

Submitted by collin on Tuesday, 4 October 2011No Comment

Dr Pepper Snapple Group and national non-profit KaBOOM! has awarded Grant Park Cooperative Preschool a $15,000 Let’s Play Playground Construction grant.

The grants are part of the first Let’s Play initiative introduced in November of last year – a $15 million, three-year commitment from Dr Pepper Snapple Group to KaBOOM!, which is working to ensure there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child. Together through Let’s Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! will build or fix up 2,000 playgrounds by the end of 2013, benefiting an estimated five million children across North America.

Grant Park Cooperative Preschool plans to renovate the playground with new structures in Spring 2012. The school submitted the grant this past spring and was one of 35 organizations to receive a grant from a pool of hundreds of applicants. GPCP hopes to raise an additional $10,000 for the playground and tax deductible donations can be made at www.gpcp.org/playground GPCP.
