Sci-fi freaks and gaming geeks will converge on Downtown from  Sept. 2-5 for the 25th anniversary edition of Dragon*Con, where it’s perfectly acceptable to let your nerd flag fly freely.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who and every galaxy in between is represented, and there will be more than 3,500 hours of panels, workshops, contests and the chance to meet folks like William Shatner, Carrie Fisher, Stan Lee, Erin Gray (sexy Col. Wilma Deering in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century), Wil Wheaton, Elvira, Gareth David Lloyd (the dearly departed Ianto Jones from Torchwood) and even Martin Landau (between Hitchcock and winning an Oscar, he was stranded on Moonbase Alpha in Space 1999). Jefferson Starship is also slated to perform. A bit of a stretch, but okay.

The event is so big that it’s hosted at five hotels: Hilton Atlanta, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Marquis Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. Good luck getting room, but you might be able to shack up with a Wookie, so put on your Princess Leia slave costume and head over there.

The annual Dragon*Con Parade, famed for its phalanx of Stormtroopers marching down Peachtree, is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. For more information, access www.dragoncon.org and may the force be with you.
