Tuscaloosa Tornado Relief benefit Aug. 11

Submitted by collin on Wednesday, 27 July 2011No Comment

Love thy neighbor, y’all, and head over to Little 5 Point’s Five Spot on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m. for a Tuscaloosa Tornado Relief Benefit.

August you say? Didn’t that tornado hit all the way back in April? Why, yes, it did but shortly thereafter Japan was hit by the devastating earthquake and tsunami, followed by historic flooding along the Mississippi, and then the horrible tornado in Joplin, MO.

Basically, Tuscaloosa got lost in the shuffle of bad news, but the need to rebuild and help Tuscaloosa still exists. For this benefit, five bands are getting together to support the community and raise money to buy school supplies for the displaced children of Tuscaloosa.

For just $10 you can enjoy the music of Sanjay Kothari, a musician and board member of Songs for Kids Foundation, bluesy up-and-comers Waking the Bates, alt-country rockers The Deadfields, longtime Atlanta favorites Moontower, and London-based singer/Southern supporter Lee MacDougall.

Proceeds will go to GiveTuscaloosa.com. Admission is $10 at the door. The Five Spot 8 is located at 1123 Euclid Ave.
