Buckhead in BloomThe Atlanta Preservation Center’s Buckhead in Bloom celebrates the 100th anniversary of Peachtree Heights Park West, the only known neighborhood planned by the outstanding early 20th century architectural firm, Carrère and Hastings. The celebration includes two events:  an opening lecture on Friday, April 15 at 8 pm. and a home and garden tour on Sunday, April 17  from noon to 5 p.m. This event is sponsored by Harry Norman, Realtors, Bones’ and Blue Ridge Grill.  Proceeds support the work of the APC.

Tonight’s lecture by distinguished author and preservationist William “Bill” Mitchell will be  in the Gould Room at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Mitchell is a cultural historian and a founder of the Southern Architecture Foundation. His lecture will focus on the work of Carrère and Hastings. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.

The Buckhead in Bloom House and Garden Tour on Sunday will begin at the building that was the original real estate office for Peachtree Heights West. This site is known variously as E. Rivers’ kindergarten, the Scout Headquarters or The Lodge at E. Rivers Elementary School.

Tickets for the home and garden tour are $40 ($30 for Atlanta Preservation Center members). They are available in advance until April 16 at the following ticket locations: Boxwoods Gardens and Gifts, Cathedral Bookstore, Habersham Gardens and the Swan Coach House. Day-of sales will be available on Sunday at 8 Peachtree Battle Avenue (The Lodge at E. Rivers Elementary School). For more information, visit this link.
