pen3The Emory Creative Writing Program’s 2010-2011 Reading Series begins this October and will run through April 2011.  The series features the words and voices of acclaimed local and national writers.  Each reading will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Jones Room, 311 Woodruff Library on the Emory Campus and they are all free and open to the public.

Fiction writer Randall Kenan kicks off the series with the Phillis Wheatley Reading, co-sponsored by Emory’s Dept. of African-American Studies, on Monday, October 18.  Some of Kenan’s works include the novel A Visitation of Spirits, and his short story collection, Let the Dead Bury the Dead. A book signing will follow the reading and there will be a colloquium at 2-3 p.m. in the Kemp Malone Library.

Other presenters in the series include Richard Bausch on Nov. 15; Joseph Skibell on Feb. 7; Bobbie Ann Mason on March 16; and Beth Henley on April 13.  Some readings feature colloquiums with the authors before or after, and nearly all feature book signings.  For further information about future readings, call 404-727-9894 or visit www.creativewriting.emory.edu.
