INtown High FiveEvery Thursday, we’ll be bringing you INtown’s High Five – a list of weekend events and activities you shouldn’t miss around the city. From art and music to festivals and food, our aim is to be eclectic and diverse every week. We also welcome your suggestions in the comment field. Let’s get to it…

1. Shout, shout, let it all out… Get your weekend started early with a blast from the 80s with a concert by Tears For Fears tonight at Chastain Park Amphitheater. Expect to hear favorites like “Everbody Wants to Rule the World,” “Shout,” “Sowing the Seeds of Love,” “Head Over Heels” and the original and still the best (sorry Adam Lambert) version of “Mad World.

2. Liquid pleasures: The German Bierfest returns to Woodruff Park on Saturday from 2-7 p.m. with more than 30 beers from Germany to sample along with live music. Admission is $30 if you buy online or $35 at the gate and includes all the beer you can safely drink. Please note the use of the word “safely.” Do we really need to remind you not to drink and drive? MARTA is most definitely smarta.

DBA Barbecue3. Barbecue & Blues: The first Morningside Summer Block Party is Saturday from 12:30 to 9 p.m. will be held in the parking lot of D.B.A Barbeque in Virginia Highland, which will be transformed into a party filled with hot food from D.B.A., El Taco and Mali Thai. Grab a cold cocktails or Abita beer and listen to live blues music from Mudcat and more, while the kiddies romp in the  children’s activity area.

4. Latin Flavor: Don’t miss the annual Festival Peachtree Latino on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. at Underground Atlanta featuring hundreds of exhibitions, family activities in the Kids Zone, a parade, Arts and Crafts Alley, the International Food Pavilion and outdoor music performances, featuring renowned international musicians on two stages.

Grant Park Summer Shade Festival5. Made in the shade: The 8th annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is Saturday and Sunday  with a variety of featured events including an artist market, food vendors, the Adams Realtors 5K Run on Saturday morning, live music and children’s fun center. And, don’t forget Corks & Forks, featuring top chefs/restaurants each day and some of the coolest wine/ales to hit the market.
