Atlanta interior designer Susan Currie has recently become one of 72 building professionals in Georgia with the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation recognizing her efforts to advance her focus on assembling homes for seniors. Currie’s design innovations seek to renovate homes to add features that require low physical effort, increase safety and are useful to people with diverse abilities.

The Federal Government has granted the City of Atlanta $1.1 million under its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to address foreclosures in neighborhoods that have been hit hard by the recession. As part of its Neighborhood Stabilization Program aimed towards prospective homebuyers, the Atlanta Development Authority will administer up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance to homebuyers purchasing a foreclosed home in one of the eligible census tracts (for a listing of eligible NSP census tracts, visit www.AtlantaGA.gov). Buyers must select a lender from a list for ADA-approved lenders (www.AtlantaADA.com), the purchase price of the home cannot exceed $252,890, and the gross household income of the purchaser cannot exceed 120 percent of the area median income.

Atlanta real estate agent Winter Baserva of ERA the Good Broker will appear on an episode of HGTV’s popular show, House Hunters, next Spring.  The show will take viewers through the experience of finding and purchasing a new home in the Brookhaven area.
