Canoe Restaurant Reopens After Flood Damage

Submitted by collin on Tuesday, 24 November 2009No Comment

canoeFood-lovers all over the city of Atlanta were shocked and dismayed to learn that after the unanticipated levels of flooding in September, the iconic Canoe Restaurant, situated on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, was swimming underneath nearly six feet of water.

Over the past ten weeks, Canoe’s owners and managers have been dedicated to the rebuilding process.  The restaurant, which featured damage totaling to more than $1 million, has been restored to its original glory by the Belfor Property Restoration Company.  The interior was completely gutted, dried, cleaned and restored.

Owners report that 85% of the staff has returned to work for the restaurant’s reopening on Monday, Nov. 23.  Chef Carvel Grand and her innovative kitchen team have prepared a new, updated menu and are in the process of coordinating the re-planting of Canoe’s vegetable garden.

Canoe will host a three-course prix-fixe menu on Thanksgiving Day from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m for $55 per person excluding alcohol, tax, and gratuity.  Canoe will also reopen Sunday, Nov. 29 for Sunday brunch service.
