Empty Bowl Project begins Oct. 11

Submitted by collin on Thursday, 8 October 2009No Comment

hungerVirginia Highland restaurant Murphy’s and make-your-own pottery studio Wired and Fired are partnering to support the 3rd Annual Empty Bowl Project.

As part of the project, Atlantans will be invited to visit Wired and Fired to decorate an unfinished soup bowl with paints, stamps and stencils for $12. The bowls will then be sold for $20 during two luncheons at Murphy’s.  Special bowls autographed by local celebrities will be featured pieces of a silent auction during that time.  Each purchased bowl will then be filled with one the Murphy’s tasty selections from a special bowl menu, and at the end of the meal they will be washed and returned to the customer to keep as a memento of the occasion.

Bowls will be available to decorate at Wired and Fired from Oct. 11 through Nov. 15.  Luncheons to purchase the bowls will be held on Nov. 18 and 19 at 11 a.m. All proceeds from the sale of the bowls will benefit Open Hand, a charitable organization that provides home-delivered meals to men, women, and children affected by chronic or critical illness.
