Best of the Holidays: Eco-Friendly Shopping
We need your feedback in the next category for our Best of the Holidays issue coming in December. Please post your suggestions for Best Eco-Friendly Shopping in the comments section. If you or your friends and loved ones are devoted to the green movement, where do you recommend like-minded folks to their holiday shopping this year? Remember, we’re looking for Intown businesses (and that includes Decatur, Buckhead, Sandy Springs and other places inside the Perimeter). We’ll select nominees from reader suggestions for a final vote at the end of October.

The Attic Treasures Thrift Shop in Chamblee is the best kept secret in eco-friendly shopping! Attic Treasures is a non-profit thrift shop that provides the major source of funding for philanthropic programs supported by Assistance League of Atlanta. 35,000 metro Atlantan’s benefit yearly from the efforts of Assistance League including 7,500 children who receive new clothing for school via Operation School Bell. Shopping at Attic Treasures helps your wallet while you help others. What could be better?

Attic Treasures Thrift Shop in Chamblee has a great assortment of holiday decorations, ornaments and gifts — all gently used and donated by members of the community. This wallet-friendly “repurposing shop” lowers our carbon footprint by saving valuable energy and landfill space. One person’s trash is anothers treasures. Proceeds benefit more than 30,000 children and adults in need in the Atlanta area.

Attic Treasures Thrift Shop is the best eco-friendly shop in town! Lots of brand names normally found in higher-end department stores. Everything is in great condition and their marketing of the merchandise inside the store as well as their weekly e-mails are amazing! The dressing rooms are imaculate and the racks are always full of interesting things!

Attic Treasures Thrift Shop in Chamblee is one of the best stores I’ve been to EVER, bar none! It’s the only place where you can buy a brand-new (tags still on it) Ann Taylor gown for $10. This store’s quality and selection are unparalleled!

Are we done spamming for Attic Treasures? How about a REAL shop that provides eco-friendly goods like ecoEmporium, Patagonia or EcoBella. I think that’s more the focus of what they want. My vote is for Patagonia but I like all three.

Of course they are my all time favorite Thrift House because of the wonderful work they do, esp. for women, but what is more eco-friendly than repurposing thousands of items a week that would otherwise be amassed in our already overflowing landfills? Not to mention that no factories or shipping agents are involved. It’s local, it’s fantastic, it’s for the community and it’s definitely making the world a better place in which to live and thrive. Every neighborhood needs one. Thanks Attic Treasures.

Attic Treasurers fulfills two functions with one stone! Good quality clothing, shoes, books, toys, household goods, furniture, jewely, toys, and decorating items for the customer, and helping so many children and adults with the proceeds derived from the shop. I understand about 95% is given back to the community. Quite a wonderful group of volunteers who run a fabulous store.

Attic Treasures always provides me with good quality items for my home and family. We are very big into recycling, so it only makes sense to buy second hand clothing. It is not only a wonderful bargain, but it helps the environment as well. ALA is one of our favorite places to shop. It’s the best Eco-Friendly place in town. If you haven’t been there, you should try it. It’s so good you’ll want to keep the secret all to yourself, but tell your friends and help them help us keep our environment safe and clean.
