Mat by Leesia Teh PhotographyMat (left) is a 9-month-old, 10-pound Chihuahua who was surrendered by his previous owner because he is not housetrained. Unfortunately, Mat’s former owner used a punishment-based method for training, which was unsuccessful, leaving Mat confused and his former owner cussing. Mat needs an owner who will use positive reinforcement to teach Mat what to do and where to do it. In the meantime, Mat will be introduced to crate training while he is at Atlanta Pet Rescue, and he will be well on his way to having good house manners in no time. Mat is a sensitive little guy who is looking for a patient new owner and a cat free home. Atlanta Pet Rescue is open Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday noon to 5 p.m. For more information about Atlanta Pet Rescue or how to adopt any of the 80+ dogs, cats, puppies and kittens looking for homes, visit www.atlantapetrescue.org.
